1 Landscapes

Camargue Salt Flats. They are in the largest river delta in Western Europe. It has a high salt content and algae in the lagoons that create this pink color and its distinct look. There are also wild horses and pink flamingos here.

Falaises d’Etretat. A beautiful coast in the Northern part of France. The chalk cliffs are on the edge of the Atlantic. This place sees many many visitors per year and is an iconic tourist location.

Côte de Granit Rose. This is a pink granite coast on a stretch of coastline in Northern Brittany, France. It has many pink granite rocks that make this place very recognizable. There are plentiful hiking trails in this area. There are also plenty of villages and towns to stop into as well if you are hiking.

Provence Lavender Fields. The lavender fields in France are one of the most beautiful places in all of France. The smell of lavender reaches for great distances before you can even see the fields. The villages around the fields are lavender hotspots. The place looks like something out of a painting and is absolutely gorgeous.

 

2 Cities

Paris, France. Paris is one of the most recognizable cities in all of France. It is also the capital of France. During the spring time the area is particularly beautiful. The city is full of beautiful architecture and home to the incredible Eiffel Tower. Paris is also home to an incredible soccer club Paris Saint Germain, which is one of the top soccer clubs in the world.

Marseille, France. This coastal city is home to beautiful ports that are now mainly for pleasure boats. The commercial boats and other vessels have now moved to other commercial ports, but the Old Port is beautiful. The weather is typically beautiful there year round, even during the winter and is a great place to visit at any time of the year.

Lyon, France. Although smaller than Paris, Lyon is thought of as France’s second city. There are a couple beautiful rivers in Lyon, the Rhone, is the biggest of the two and it travels all the way from Switzerland and goes through the center of Lyon. There is a huge 117 hectares of grass and trees inside of the city of Lyon and it is right next to the Rhone and is a wonderful green area in the city. There is also plentiful amounts of food, Roman history, cinematic history, outdoor music, and above all else, the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere.

Toulouse, France. Full of beautiful Romanesque architecture, the city of Toulouse is one to marvel. The Basilica of Saint-Sernin is one of the most striking you will see. There are also plenty of museums in the city. Toulouse is famous for their cassoulet, a comfort food in France. The city is one of the most populous in France and is another beautiful tourist location in a country full of splendor.

3 Landmarks

The Eiffel Tower. One of the most recognizable landmarks in the entire world. The Eiffel Tower is the first thing many people think of when they think of not only Paris, but France as a whole. Built from 1887 – 1889 the Eiffel Tower is over one thousand feet tall and is the tallest structure in Paris. It was the tallest man made structure in the world for a little over 40 years. It has three levels for tourists, two have restaurants and shops, and the top level is an observation deck.

 

Arc de Triomphe. Constructed in 1836 the Arc de Triomphe is one of the most important structures in the city of Paris, and is a great symbol for the French people. The Arc is a monument to the French soldiers that died in the Napoleonic Wars and the French Revolution. At the base of this arch the also have the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. It is a beautiful representation of France’s past and honors its soldiers wonderfully.

 Notre Dame de Paris. This cathedral is one of the most beautiful in the entire world. Many people know it because of the famous novel written by Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This church is still operational and does hold mass, unlike many famous cathedrals and churches that are now more like museums instead of true functioning churches.

Parc des Princes. Parc des Princes is the home stadium of the soccer club Paris Saint Germain. It seats nearly 50,000 and is one of the most beautiful stadiums in all of the world. It was renovated last in 2016 and PSG’s revenue has exploded with the latest renovations. They plan to expand the seating to 60,000 in the coming years, and will be a huge piece of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This is sure to be a fantastic piece to the the coming Olympic games.

4 Images of People

Paris Saint Germain. The most famous soccer club in France, Paris Saint Germain. They are the best club in the country and consistently win cup after cup. Pictured are Neymar Jr., a Brazilian on the team, and Kylian Mbappe, an up and coming superstar and native Frenchman. The team is full of French stars, many of whom play for the French national team. This club boasts a huge fan base and is very popular around the world not only just in France.

French National Team. The French National team won the World Cup this past year breaking a long streak of them being very average and somewhat disappointing. The fans rallied to their support as the entire nation was united behind them. Soccer fans are typically very excited and voracious, and incredibly passionate about their teams. It is clear in the picture that the fans are very much into their team and want to support their nation as much as possible.

Paris Fashion Week. Paris is one of the biggest cities in the world and is an incredible melting pot of different cultures and media. Paris Fashion Week is a huge gathering of all the biggest fashion companies in the world and is a place for them to showcase the new and their best. This is a huge event in Paris and one that is looked forward to all year and once it comes. Similar to fashion weeks in New York and Milan this show is one of the best.

Bastille Day. Celebrated on July 14, Bastille Day is a national holiday which is called la Fête nationale in France. It is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille which was a turning point in the French Revolution. Each year there is a military parade that is held on the morning of July 14, and it is typically held in the capital city of Paris. People gather each year to celebrate this holiday.

Nice, France is picture in the travel book, The World (Lonely Planet’s Guide to) 2nd Edition October 2017 on page 314. Nice, France is a beautiful city with incredible ports and coast line. Similar to Marseille, there are plenty of ports and many beautiful areas of coastline. The city and architecture is also gorgeous.

Another example from the same book is Chamonix Action, on page 321. The birthplace of mountaineering and winter playground to the rich, famous and not-so-famous, this iconic ski resort in the French Alps has something for everyone. Snowsport fiends fly down slopes on skis or boards to savor the breathtaking views of Mount Blanc. But there’s absolutely no obligation to do so: non-skiers can hop aboard the Aiguille du Midi cable car for the ride of a lifetime above 3800m.
